Gráinne has always had a passion for writing since she was child. Her first writing endeavours were based on her own imaginative stories of fantasy, and Disney inspired adventures, which only spurred on her desire to be writer (and an actor). During her studies in University, she began to write poetry and short stories in her creative writing class for her BA in Arts in NUI Galway.
From there Gráinne continued her creative pursuits in pursuing a screenwriting course, and as a result has written various television pilots and film scripts. This eventually led to creation of Gráinne's short zoom play, "It's Okay", set during the initial lockdown in Ireland as a result of Covid-19.
Gráinne not only wrote "It's Okay", but she co-starred in it too. It was selected for the 'Around the Globe in Eighty Plays' New Writing Festival in 2020. Gráinne then went on to do a TV Pilot writing class, were she created her own TV pilot that was performed for the MOB Theatre Company in Dublin.

Gráinne then went on to use her Journalistic and Social Media experience at Cinders Magazine. There she shared her own personal experiences in dealing with her body insecurities, MeToo and "being weird." Gráinne's personal stories have received much acclaim online, including from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's Donna Lynne Champlin and Rachel Bloom.
Gráinne was the Co-Editor Cinders Magazine, and still occasionally helps run Cinders' Social Media. Cinders was founded by Meabh McDonnell in 2016, who is Cinders Magazine's Editor and also a fellow DCU and NUI Galway's SIN alum, where Grainne and Meabh became fast and close friends.
Cinders Magazine has received acclaim from authors and fangirls in Ireland and abroad. As a result Cinders was a Finalist for the Ireland Blog Awards in 2017 in the Books and Literature category.
Then in 2018 Cinders went on to win Sliver and Bronze at the Ireland Blog Awards..
Gráinne also used her passion for writing, politics and current affairs in pursuing a career in journalism.
This began whilst studying English and Politics and Sociology in NUI Galway (2008-2011). It was there her enthusiasm began for journalism, where she decided to volunteer for the NUI Galway newspaper SIN(Student Information Network). During her time at SIN she wrote various national, international as well college news articles, and entertainment features. In her final year at NUIG, Gráinne became Co-News Editor for SIN and from there went on to gain a Masters in Journalism at DCU(2012). During her time at Dublin City University, Grainne was short-listed for the Hybrid Awards “Blog of the Year” and “News and Current Affairs Journalist of the Year.”
After that Gráinne worked on various digital platforms as a content writer, Social Media Editor and in her spare time still wrote for her own entertainment and personal blog - Occasional Musings. Occasional Musings went on to be Longlisted for the Littlewoods 2016 Ireland’s Best Blog Post and Film and TV blog. It was also Shortlisted and Longlisted for the Ireland Blog Awards in 2015.
Gráinne then went on to successfully gain a position with INM (Independent News & Media) which is one of the largest media organisations in Ireland. While there Gráinne worked as a feature journalist and visual co-ordinator for the Irish Independent, The Herald, Sunday Independent and Sunday World. Her work got much acclaim and traction with her Valentine's piece being discussed on RTE's Morning Ireland, Today FM, and her 1916 series' Nine Lives being mentioned on regional radio stations.
